
John A. Godfrey, O.D.
John A. Godfrey, O.D. joined Bucks-Mont Eye Associates in 1993, and has been a co-managing partner since 2001. Dr. Godfrey and his family reside in Harleysville. He and his wife, Melissa, find joy in raising their twin sons and daughter. He also has a passion for traveling, reading, exercising and following his beloved Steelers and Pirates.

Dr. Godfrey is a board certified Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. He performs comprehensive eye examinations, contact lens evaluations, and treats and manages most ocular diseases. He is an active staff member of St. Luke’s Health Network, Grand View campus.
Dr. Godfrey graduated Summa Cum Laude from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Natural Science and from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry with a Doctor of Optometry Degree. After optometry school, he completed a residency in Primary Care Optometry with an emphasis on the diagnosis, treatment and management of ocular disease at The Eye Institute of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. From 1993-2003, he taught optometry students on a part time basis at his alma mater. Also, during this timeframe, he participated in various continuing education programs for practicing optometrists both nationally and internationally. Dr. Godfrey is a member of the American Optometric Association, the AOA Cornea and Contact Lens Section, the Pennsylvania Optometric Association, the Bucks-Montgomery Optometric Society and the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Fraternity. He is a past President and Treasurer of the Bucks-Montgomery Optometric Society and was named “Optometrist of the Year” in 2004 by his colleagues. Dr. Godfrey was appointed by the Governor Tom Wolf and confirmed by the Senate to serve on the Pennsylvania State Board of Optometry, where he has held leadership roles as Chair and Vice Chair.
