A shot in the eye versus several weeks of three different eye drops.
The thought may be a bit intense, but if the shot is not felt and money is saved by not having to buy expensive eye drops, the scales will dip to the first option for a lot of cataract patients.
“It can be a burden to use drops,” said Dr. Michael G. Posner, chairman of the ophthalmology division at Grand View Health who has been doing dropless cataract surgery since March. “Some people can’t put drops in their eyes, someone has to help, and the cost can be $200 to $300 per eye.”
